Space Video of the Day - 080419
Earlier today, the Soyuz TMA-11 carrying expedition 16 crewmembers and the first Korean astronaut departed from the international space station. Today's space video of the day shows the Soyuz departing the ISS and a CG of the nominal Soyuz reentry procedure. The reentry was not nominal however, and they had a bit of a bumpy ride on the way down, experiencing high gees on a ballistic reentry. Update, April 22: The Soyuz had worse problems than those originally stated: they came in hatch first instead of heat shield first, and experienced deceleration of up to 9 gees. Wow.
