Space Video of the Day - 080405

John Carpenter's first film was a piece of low-budget science fiction called Dark Star, about a spaceship on a decades-long voyage to blow up planets with unstable orbits which might interfere with planned human colonies. One of the key scenes in the movie is today's space video of the day, in which one of the astronauts teaches phenomenology to a malfunctioning bomb. The film was co-written by and starred Dan O'Bannon as Pinback; O'Bannon later went on to write the movies Aliens and Total Recall, and to direct Return of the Living Dead.
