Today's space video of the day is the 1999 science fiction / fantasy movie Star Wars Episode 1: the Phantom Menace. note: I had some problems viewing the entire movie here - possibly a temporary problem at YouTube. If you encounter similar problems, you can view the entire playlist here
Today is the first anniversary of the Space Video of the Day, so I figured I'd bring back a blast from the past. When I was a kid, one of my favorite TV shows was Buck Rogers in the 25th Century. I was a little too young at the time to appreciate the way Erin Gray was dressed on the show, but my dad sure took notice. What really got me was all the space stuff, which I was just nuts about, and I suppose still am to this day. Here is the very first episode of BRit25C, presented in two parts.
I have already posted the movie Star Wars as a space video of the day. There were lots of flaws in that movie, and many of them are pointed out in this hilarious sendup by the creators of Family Guy. Enjoy today's space video of the day, Blue Harvest.
Over the last two months, I have presented as the space video of the day all of the episodes of the excellent TV series Firefly. Even though Fox did their best to (ultimately successfully) kill the series, the show developed an enormous base of devoted fans. The pressure on Fox to continue the story was so great that they eventually brought the series to the big screen with the movie Serenity, which I was lucky enough to see prior to general release in exchange for a review on my blog. So, it is with great pleasure that I present to you this week's space video of the week, Serenity; this is presented in two parts, so scroll down for the second half. "I'm a leaf on the wind..."
Today's space video of the day is the fouteenth - and final - episode of Firefly, entitled Objects in Space. Even though Fox showed the series out of order, moved it around the schedule, and pre-empted it several times before finally cancelling it, the show still developed a huge following. Pressure from the fans, marshalled with the help of the internet, convinced Fox to continue the story in the form of the movie Serenity, which will be shown here sometime next week.
For today's space video of the day (and space video of the week), join us in the year 10192, in the quest for the Spice and control of the planet Arrakis. This is David Lynch's 1984 adaptation of Frank Herbert's Dune. As is usual in long movies like this, it is split into two parts, so scroll down for the second half.
